I started with the legendary Willys MB Jeep, as I wrote a short post about it somedays ago. Although this one is a small vehicle after you've finished building it, it was not as easy as I thought when I decided to get my hands dirty :).
It took me several days to build, some other days to make small changes, and many days to wait for LEGO parts from Bricklink. I don't remember exactly but it was not built in a day (Rome wasn't too hehehe :D).
First, I want to talk about color, this Jeep's color is dark bluish gray as it is standard color to buy parts for military vehicles now. I've always wanted to build it in other colors e.g. olive and green but I'm not sure if all parts are available in these colors. I will try.
Foldable windshield is a tricky one, I needed three small mechanical arm parts to build it. Unfortunately these ones in dark bluish gray are a bit rare, black is very popular, then I was satisfied with old gray ones. They definitely need more improvement in the future releases.
I loved the tires because it's narrow and wide and likely the best one for this jeep, the downside is there is no wheel rim in dark bluish gray, again. I've seen some nice models of this jeep, but their thick and small tires are very not real.
I also spent much time to make front tires go a little ahead, like the real jeep when you look at it from left/right side, I love it :).
The front seats are a bit wider than other models, they are three plates instead of two because I just wanted to put soldiers there easily and driver can seat straitly with the steering wheel.
There is only one rear mirror, yes, I didn't miss it, there is only one in the real Willys MB Jeep too ;)
I'm going to add a towel in the future releases. Needless to say, all models are always built with new authentic LEGO parts, sometimes I need to use very few Brickmania parts too to tweak some tricky issues.
I built this jeep for Playwell Store, an online LEGO store in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam. If you like it, you can get this Willys MB Jeep yourself from their store :).
